2008 Sauvignon Blanc, Arroyo Seco
Comprised of Musque clone (FPS 27) Sauvignon Blanc and sourced from the Zabala Vineyard, a rock-strewn property adjacent to the Arroyo Seco Creek. Resting in granitic, cobblestone beds the site is devoid of topsoil and thus nutrients; which in concert with a the already low-yielding nature of Musque, the persistent fog and howling winds combing to provide fruit with immense character.
Richly textured, this zippy, stainless steel fermented and aged Sauvignon Blanc boasts notes of exotic melons, Meyer lemons, white flowers and mineral tones.
89 points, Editors Choice - Wine Enthusiast Magazine, August 2010: "An absolutely lovely Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit is just fine, ranging from lemons and limes to riper kiwis and green melons, and the finish is totally dry. But what really impresses is the natural acidity. It's so bright and brisk, so mouth-cleansing. Entirely unoaked, this is a great restaurant wine."
