2015 Grenache, Cedar Lane Vineyard
Found in the riverbed corridor of the Arroyo Seco AVA, Cedar Lane Vineyard rests along the banks of the seasonal creek. This 60-acre property encompasses a pocket of terrain tucked behind the Santa Lucia bench where the riverbed narrows toward the mountains. Dramatic in its setting, the vines are rooted in shallow, rocky soil and produce distinct grapes.
A blend of both ENTAV and Alban clones, this Grenache was barrel aged for 20 months in neutral French oak and showcases the rustic and verve of fruit grown in the rocky and meager surface soil of the Arroyo Seco's ancient river channel. This wine is dense with chalky tannins, and its bouquet shows aromas dark cherry, spiced cranberry, white pepper, violets and vanilla.
